HOW YOUR COMPRESSOR DRIVEN NEBULIZER WORKS
The purpose of a compressor driven nebulizer is to create an aerosol, or a very fine mist, from a liquid. The compressor directs a flow of air through the handheld nebulizer which contains liquid medication. This creates an aerosol which is then delivered to the lungs by using a mouthpiece or a mask and inhaling slowly and deeply.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Make sure that the ON/OFF switch is in the “OFF” position.
2. Plug in power cord.
3. Remove nebulizer cap from medication cup.
4. Measure medication or empty premixed medication into medication cup.
5. Replace nebulizer cap onto medication cup.
6. Connect mouthpiece, or mask, to nebulizer cap.
7. Connect one end of the tubing to the nebulizer and the other end to the air outlet of the compressor.
8. Turn ON/Off switch to the “ON” position. Check for adequate mist.
9. Take the mouthpiece between your teeth, surround it with your lips and breathe in and out slowly through your mouth or place the mask in a position over nose and mouth and breathe slowly in and out through your mouth. When the cup begins to sputter, then treatment is finished. You can tap on the side of the cup to help the medication dispense. There will always be a small amount of medication left in the medication cup.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
After every use:
• Disconnect the cup from the tubing. Unscrew the top from the medicine cup, rinse out the cup and refill with water. Replace the top, reconnect the tubing and run it again to clean up any unused medication in the nebulizer jets.
• Disconnect the tubing and take apart the cup.
• Rinse all parts well with warm water (except tubing)
• Shake off excess water and allow to air dry on a clean paper towel. Do not towel dry.
At the end of each day:
• Wash all items (except the tubing) in either hot soapy water or in a basket in the top rack of your dishwasher.
• Rinse well with warm water.
• Shake off excess water and allow to air dry on a clean paper towel. Do not dry with dish towel.
Once each week:
• Disassemble the nebulizer cup.
• Boil the nebulizer cup & parts (except tubing) in water with 2-3 drops of dishwashing liquid for 10 minutes.
• Rinse all parts in clean water for 2 minutes.
• Shake off excess water and allow to air dry on clean paper towel. Do not dry with dish towel. Reassemble and store nebulizer cup in a clean place when not in use.
